Talacogon, Agusan del Sur – Operating troops of Bravo Company, 26th Infantry (Ever Onward) Battalion encountered more or less 15 CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) belonging to Platoon Sagay, SRC 3 of NCMRC while conducting combat operations at the hinter areas of Sitio Liwangwangan, Barangay Lydia, La Paz, Agusan del Sur on March 17, 2023.The encounter transpired at around 11:55 in the morning that resulted to the capture of a carbine rifle loaded with ammunition, rifle grenade, 40mm ammunition and various war paraphernalia such as a cellular phone, handheld commercial radios (Baofeng), medical supplies, personal belongings, and subversive documents.
The fierce firefight ensued for about 20 minutes that also resulted to the seizure of the CTG encampment while the CNTs scampered towards different directions.The presence of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) was reported by concerned citizens who were alarmed and threatened by their presence. The 26IB immediately acted on the report leading to the encounter, seizure of enemy encampment, and disruption of their planned atrocities.Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Sandy Majarocon, Commanding Officer of 26IB, extended his gratitude to the concerned residents for reporting the presence of CNTs.
“Ang 26IB nagpasalamat ug dako sa mga katawhan sa ilang pagpahibalo sa presensya sa mga armadong grupo. Kini lamang nagpakita nga ang atong mga katawhan dili na ganahan ug gubot ug wala na mituo sa kalihukan sa mga armadong NPA. Tungod sa ilang impormasyon, atong napugngan ang ilang planong pangpanghadlok ug paghimo ug kagubot sa atong lugar”, he said.“Ako giawhag pag usab ang atong mga katawhan nga magbantay kanunay sa presensya ug sa mga dili maayong kalihokan sa mga armadong NPA kay ang inyong kasundaluhan andam kanunay sa pagtabang ug pagprotekta sa atong mga katawhan para magpabilin ang kalinaw ug kalamboan sa atong komunidad, Lt Col. Majarocon added.
