Three lawless elements were killed in the joint PNP-AFP operations conducted in Cotabato on March 11, 2023.

According to Maj. Gen Alex Rillera, Commander of Joint Task Force Central, combined elements of the police under the Cotabato Provincial Police and the military under the 602nd Infantry Brigade conducted a law enforcement operation to serve warrants of arrest against Abdullah Kurdotoy and Jonathan Kadalem in Barangay Macabual, Pikit, Cotabato at 2 a.m. Saturday.

While approaching the target’s residence, Kurdotoy and his cohorts opened fire which forced the operating troops to retaliate. Firefight ensued which resulted in the deaths of two lawless elements identified as Norman Samsudin and Maano Sanday, and the recovery of two M16 rifles and two bandoliers. The armed confrontation also resulted in the wounding of one police personnel. He is now in stable condition.

Meanwhile, during the pursuit operation, the blocking force from the 34th Infantry Battalion were fired upon by a group of unidentified armed men at Sitio Galigayanan, Macabual. Another armed confrontation ensued resulting in the death alias Baganyan, and the recovery of two M16 rifles and one homemade shotgun.

Overall, the law enforcement operations resulted in the neutralization of three lawless elements and the recovery of four M16 rifles and one homemade shotgun. The cadavers of the neutralized cohorts of the target personalities, and all the recovered firearms were turned over to Pikit Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command commended the military troops under the 90th and 34th Infantry Battalions for their steadfast resolve to end criminalities by actively8 participating in the law enforcement operations conducted by the PNP and other security agencies.

“Rest assured that we will sustain our good relationship with our partners to ensure the successful conduct of operations against the malefactors,” Lt. Gen. Galido stated.
