Thousands marched to condemn CPP-NPA’s atrocities

Camp General Manuel T Yan Sr., Mawab, Compostela Valley – On March 29, 2019, 7:00am, there have been gathering of people from different parts of Region 10, 11 and 12 in different Cities; Davao City, General Santos City, Kidapawan City, Mati City of Davao Oriental and Tagum City of Davao del Norte.

Nearly Eight thousand participated the Peace Rally initiated by peace advocates of Mindanao particularly that of Regions 10, 11 and 12. Indigenous people and their Tribal leaders, Former members of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG)-NPA, non-government organizations, Youth for Peace Movement, and Local Government officials and some heads of line government agencies hoisted banners and placards bearing messages of peace, the participants marched through the main thoroughfares of the Davao City, General Santos City, Kidapawan City, Mati City of Davao Oriental and Tagum City of Davao del Norte on Friday, March 29, 2019 to campaign for peace, expressing their support to government’s fight against communist insurgency with the hope to build peaceful communities for their families and for the future generations.

It can be observed that the peace rally was conducted during the NPA’s 50th year of continued deception and atrocious activities. People are awaken from the nightmares brought about by CTG and through Peace Rally only they can express support to the government’s campaign and call other peace advocates to speak up make a stand to end communist-terrorist insurgency in the region.

Truly, Local Government Units have made parallel effort in condemning the CPP-NPA-NDF’s 50th year of murderous existence. For 1st quarter of this year 2019, there were two (2) Provinces, three (3) Municipalities, one (1) Barangay and one (1) Sitio declared the CPP-NPA-NDF Persona non Grata in their respective communities.

Through Peace and Order Council resolutions, the following LGUs declared the members of CPP-NPA-NDF as persona non Grata: Talaingod, Davao del Norte on January 16, 2019; Compostela Valley Province on January 25, 2019; Davao Oriental on February 19, 2019; and Barangay San Isidro, Tagum City, Davao del Norte on March 4, 2019;

During the last week of March, Magpet of North Cotabato declared the Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) as “persona non grata” during the town’s peace and order council (MPOC) special meeting. CPP-NPA had brought extreme poverty and misery to the people and many people were displaced from their economic source of income because of fear and unabated extortion. The people’s freedom and rights were abused by the CPP-NPA-NDF.

Meanwhile, CPP-NPA-NDF is also not welcome in the town of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental under Mayor Jason John A. Joyce in Davao Occidental for their “continued acts of violence, terrorism, violent extremism and other forms of lawlessness, oppression, and harassment of the communist insurgents to the people.

In a statement, Brigadier General Mario G Lacurom AFP, General Officer-in-Charge 10ID said, “With our 10th Infantry Division Commander Major General Jose C Faustino Jr, the Army’s core purpose of ‘protecting the people and securing the land’ will always be our focus in all activities/operations we are doing. 10ID expresses support to the peace initiatives of our stakeholders through their ‘peace rally’ that aims to inform, solicit popular support and pose a challenge to all peace-loving Mindanaoans. Insurgency is everybody’s concerned and only by unified actions we can fully heal our community from the wounds brought by 50 years of NPA’s existence.”

BGen Lacurom also commented, “The people can no longer endure the suffering they are long experienced with the unabeted violation of their right done by the communist-terrorists.

They now want to enjoy living in a peaceful community and business without any fear while enjoying the fruits of their labor; hence, initiating actions to be able to pursue their dreams to become economically stable and their rights are respected.

The people themselves now are speaking in public conveying their strong desire  of a kind of community they want to live- peacefully, orderly, rights respected, developed and progressive community.”

During the said rally, 10ID troopers were able to provide the necessary security assistance to the participants.
