BALER, Aurora-An association of farmers in Sitio Dicaloyungan, Barangay Zabali in this town received agricultural seeds on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 for their “Gulayan sa Barangay” project from the Department of Agriculture (DA).
Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P Rubio, commander of the 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division Philippine Army said in an interview that personnel of Charlie Company led by 1st Lieutenant Stewart Cerbo, Staff Sergeant Leonard M. Framil, Civil Military Operation-Non Commission Officer (CMO-NCO), Corporal Froilan Wanawan, Assistant CMO-NCO attended the awarding and distribution of seeds to the Masaganang Perlas ng Silangan ng Aurora Province, Inc. (MAPSAP) from Sitio Dicaloyungan, Barangay Zabali in connection to Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) effort of battalion together with 1st Lieutenant Roberto Apelado-Battalion CMO Officer, Zenaida Castaneda of DA Aurora, Cecille Rubio of MLGOO Baler, Mateo K. Diguinat of NCIP Aurora representative, Baler Police Station led by Police Lieutenant Renemar T. Montes, 1st PMFC Commander Police Major Bartolome Antolin, MAPSAP representative Jaime Bitong and local officials headed by Barangay Zabali Chairman Reynante Mapindan.
Lieutenant Colonel Rubio said the DA provided vegetable seeds to the MAPSAP members for their vegetable livelihood project.
He added that the vegetable farming project is part of the DA’s High-Value Crops and Development Program which aims to establish model vegetable farming sites made by the MAPSAP.
Some 110 MAPSAP members were benefitted in the program to increase yield and help in food sustainability in this capital town of Aurora.
“We sent our RCSP team in barangay Zabali in the town of Baler to provide various support services to the community in order to make the residents of this far-flung barangay to be aware of the different government interventions which they can avail of,” Lieutenant Colonel Rubio said, pointing out that the government will continue to support the RCSP.
The program aims to bridge the gap between the government and the barangays that were already cleared with communist terrorist groups (CTG) through the whole of nation approach of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
