One NPA terrorist killed in Sarangani clash

MALUNGON, SARANGANI PROVINCE – At about 12:00 noon on November 29, 2018, troops of 73rd Infantry Battalion (73IB) encountered five CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) led by alias Rusi of Front Central under Weakened Guerilla Front 71, Far South Mindanao Region at Sitio Sulkili, Barangay Kihan, Malapatan, Sarangani Province.
Said encounter was the result of an information build up after the surrender of one of their members to 73IB during the course of custodial debriefing.

Accordingly, said CNTs planned to conduct ambush to the government troops providing security assistance to the personnel of Sarangani Provincial Health Office (PHO) who were conducting Medical Services at hinterland Sitios of Barangay Upper Suyan of said Municipality.
It was recently reported that said Barangay has an alarming measles outbreak which already claimed 18 innocent lives mostly children, 70 with signs and symptoms, and 12 hospitalized. It was then 73IB troops who immediately facilitated the request of PHO for the use of UH1H Helicopter to transport the health workers of the Province and the medical supplies.
The firefight lasted about 20 minutes which resulted to the death of one CNT identified as Sue Boding alias Pedped, a resident of Sitio Blebak, Little Baguio, Davao Occidental and the recovery of one caliber .45 pistol. The cadaver was already brought to a funeral home at Malita, Davao Occidental for proper disposition while the family was already informed about the incident.

“We regret that our fellow Filipino brother has to die for this unworthy purpose of the CPP-NPA Terrorists. They did not even consider the situation of their fellows who were affected by the outbreak. The only viable option for them is to embrace a peaceful life and avail of the government’s Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program”, Brigadier General Roberto Ancan, 1002nd Brigade Commander said.
