CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz- the office of the presidential adviser on the peace process Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr reached out to members of RPA-ABB from islands of Panay Negros particularly the Tabara Paduano Group through a consultation meeting on March 26, 2019 at Headquarters, 3rd Infantry Division. The activity aims to enable OPAPP to assess the conflict and peace situation in PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) program target sites as weill as
to identify and henceforth carry out a conflict-sensitive and peace promoting set of Fiscal Year 2020 PAMANA interventions in conflict-affected and conflict-vulnerable communities.
OPAPP serves as the oversight and implementing entity for the PAMANA program which is also one of the development programs of the national government for the communities that fall under the aforementioned categories. Earlier, OPAPP announced that they will be providing about PHP500-million worth of livelihood and social protection assistance to RPA-ABB members and their families. The announcement was made by Presidential Peace Adviser Galvez, Jr.
during his visit in Negros Occidental last March 8, 2019. Yesterday, government security forces and stakeholders in Region 6
converged at Camp Peralta to sign a Whole-of-Nation Commitment for the attainment of inclusive and sustainable peace in Western Visayas and to end local armed-conflict.
The signatories commit themselves to actively support the operationalization and institutionalization of the Whole-of-Nation Approach and to unselfishly share their resources for the realization of a complete victory; the total eradication of the root causes of the conflict and violence.MGen Dinoh Dolina, Commander of the Army’s 3 rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division stressed “This undertaking attests that peace is not an elusive dream. It proves that we can sit in a negotiating table and work together towards the attainment of
inclusive and sustainable peace not only in the region but also in the whole country”.
