CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – Municipal Task Force – End Local Communist and Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) is scheduled to kick off on 20 March at the former New People’s Army (NPA) strong hold at Sitio Kamansi, Barangay Banglay, Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental.

The launching will be spearheaded by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lagonglong, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in coordination with the 58th Infantry ‘Dimalulupig’ Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army. The launching will be participated by other government line agencies with their commitment for the welfare of the people of Sitio Kamansi on the day of launching.

It can be recalled that mid of the year 2018 the 58IB launched its Development Security Support Plan (DSSP) Pangandoy Mis or which aims to support the LGUs improve the Socio-Economic Development of the province of Misamis Oriental and the clearing of the NPAs Guerilla bases. One of the notable accomplishment is that Sitio Kamansi was cleared by the Community Support Program teams last 23 September 2019.

The MTF-ELCAC is compose of three components, namely, Basic services delivery; Citizenship and Community Participation Team and Peace; and Law Enforcement and Development Support team which will assist the community. The creation of the Task force was due to the realization that despite of the continuing successes of the security forces to address the communist insurgency, the government’s efforts to reach the community with basic services coupled with the help of other stakeholders consistent with the Whole of Nation Approach will sustain the gains of the security forces for just and lasting peace conducive for development.

Lt. Col. Ricky L Canatoy, Commanding Officer of the 58 IB said, ” We support the Local Government of Lagonglong on its aim to improve the lives of people in Sitio Kamansi this effort will aspire the remaining remnants of NPAs to return to the folds of the law. Together, we will aspire for a peaceful country and work together for a just and lasting peace.
