Misamis Oriental Beauties, restaurant owners honor wounded soldiers

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Soldiers confined at the Philippine Army’s Camp Evangelista Station Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City were treated with an Independence Day surprise as reigning Miss Kuyamis 2019 beauties paid them a visit, June 12.

The 11 Misamis Oriental beauties were joined by members of the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA), and paid tribute to the heroism and sacrifices of Filipino soldiers as the entire nation celebrated its 121st Independence Day. The group distributed gift packs and joined the soldiers confined at the hospital for a simple lunch.

COHARA’s Immediate Past President Nelia Lee said the simple tribute was their way of expressing their gratitude to the Filipino soldier. “We are here today to share our blessings to our dear heroes. We are aware of your great sacrifices for our country, and we would like to honor you even in a small way. Thank you for your service”, Lee said.

“We know about the sacrifices and the price you pay to preserve our freedom that is why we are greatly honored and grateful to be with you during this special day. Maraming salamat po sa inyo and our salute to you sirs”, the ladies said. They also said that it was their first time to celebrate Independence Day with the true heroes of the country

Maj. Gen. Franco Nemesio Gacal, the Commander of 4th expressed his thanks to the visitors for celebrating the country’s freedom with the soldiers. “In behalf of our soldiers and their families, thank you very much for honoring the sacrifices of our soldiers- our modern day heroes. This is truly a morale- booster to our soldiers and their dependents”, Gacal said.

At present, there are soldiers being treated in the said Army hospital because of various combat- related injuries. They have expressed their intention to go back to the battlefield after recuperation.
