SURIGAO DEL SUR, July 3 — Former Rebels (FRs) underwent a 5-day skills training in Sitio Ibuan, Brgy Mampi Lanuza, Bgry Burgos, and Brgy Managing. A total of 30 individuals composed of FRs and People’s Organization (POs) attended the Livelihood Program that gave lessons on Organic Agriculture and Livestock Raising that was launched by the Department of Agriculture (DA), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The Community Support Program of the 36th Infantry “Valor” Battalion (36IB) in Sitio Ibuan, Brgy Mampi arranged for the reintegration of the 30 FRs and POs who surrendered to them and expressed will to return to the folds of the law.
The Surigao del Sur TESDA Provincial Director Rey Cueva, Poverty Reduction and Livelihood Enhancement Cluster Chairperson Gemma Asufre, the Chief Agricultural Consultant from CARAGA DA, and 36IB Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Jezreel Diagmel were also present during the skills training.
Lt. Col. Diagmel believes that training and education on this matter would open the window of opportunity to the beneficiaries, particularly the FRs and the community attaining peace and sustainable livelihood development in their area of operation.
