SIATON, Negros Oriental – The local government of Mabinay headed by Mayor Joeterry A Uy and the Army’s 11th Infantry (Lapu-Lapu) Battalion extended assistance to the family of slain NPA terrorist in Mabinay, Negros Oriental today June 21, 2020.

The financial assistance was turned over by the LGU-Mabinay represented by Mr. Ricky Genel and Ms. Elna Bito, Livelihood Branch Staff of Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD-Mabinay), and 11IB Commanding Officer, LTC Ramir Redosendo to the family of Isaias Ravilista alias Ka Jabar.

Ravilista was laid to rest last Sunday Afternoon of June 21. He was a subject of the arrest warrant issued by Judge Rosario S. Carriaga of Bais, Negros Oriental, who was charged with the crime in Violation of Section 28 (a&e,1), R.A, 10591 also known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

It can be recalled that joint elements of 11IB and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7 (RMFB 7) with personnel from Mabinay Police Station went to Sitio Talingting, Brgy Luyang, Mabinay, Negros Oriental last June 18, 2020 (Thursday) to serve the arrest warrant when they were fired upon by members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).

Five (5) CTGs, including Ravilista was killed in the 30-mininute firefight against the Government Forces.

Aside from the goods and financial assistance for the family, the LGU-Mabinay through Mayor Uy also provided burial assistance to the family of the slain NPA as he expressed his gratitude to 11IB for preserving the peace and order in Mabinay and to the neighboring towns. “We would like to thank the Philippine Army for your endless service towards achieving peace and national development even in this trying times.”

LTC Redosendo, stated that “The Philippine Army, together with the Local Government of Mabinay, would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Ka Jabar. What happened in Brgy Luyang, Mabinay is a very unfortunate incident, and Isaias Ravilista is only one of the many victims of deception of the Communist Terrorists Groups (CTGs)”.

“Likewise, we would to re-echo this call to the remaining NPA Terrorists, we do not want you to suffer the same fate that had happened to your peers. Lay down your arms, surrender yourselves, and avail the government’s reintegration program,” Redosendo added.

Moreover, he appealed to everyone to support the implementation of the “Whole-of-Nation” approach of the government to end the long-drawn-out insurgency problem in Negros Oriental.
