Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – Soldiers of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army casted their votes for the National Midterm Election 2019 at the Kaugnay Club House, today.
The Local Absentee Voting (LAV) for the AFP members started yesterday until tomorrow.
Being primarily tasked for the security requirements of the conduct of election on May 13, members of 7ID casted their votes ahead of others.
As of this writing, there are more or less 500 registered voters from 7ID who are casting their ballots aside from other Army units in Fort Magsaysay who also participated in the LAV.
The soldiers are allowed to vote for the senatorial position and a party list group.
There were representatives from the Commission on Election (COMELEC) who assisted the soldiers in voting their bets.
Major General Lenard T Agustin AFP, Commander, 7ID encouraged the soldiers to exercise their right of suffrage. He also mentioned that aside from providing security during election, voting through LAV is the responsibility of every soldier. Each vote is important for the future of the nation.
Further, MGen Agustin said, “I enjoin everyone, not only our soldiers, to be perceptive in voting individuals especially the party list groups. AFP is a non-partisan organization, yes, but we do not want our nation to suffer by putting party list groups whose ultimate goal is to destroy the government.”
“It is better for the voters to look deeply in the party list groups who are running for a seat – their true identity and their agenda. One vote is very important so choose wisely”, MGen Agustin added.
The LAV at Fort Magsaysay will last until this afternoon.
