STO Tomas, Davao- LTC DONALD P GAFFUD INF (GSC) PA, Battalion Commander and MAJ RODRIGO G LATONIO JR (INF) PA, CMO Officer of this unit attended the Blessing and Turn-over Ceremony of Sub- Projects for Indigenous People (IP) held at So Mangga, Brgy Magwawa, Sto Tomas, DDN on July 30, 2021.
The Kalahi-CIDSS PAMANA IP CDD in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process turned-over the following projects: Php1,000,000.00 worth of School Living Tradition (SLT) and Capability Building; Php1,250,000.00 worth of Storage Facility provision with Corn Mill and Capability Building on Sustainable Agriculture and Php400,000.00 worth of Storage Facility with provision of Corn Sheller. These projects will benefit 1,830 residents in the area.
The activity was graced by Hon Ernesto “Tatay Erning” Evangelista, Municipal Mayor of Sto Tomas, DDN, together with the representatives from the Office of the Provincial Governor and 2nd Cogressional District of DDN; representatives from Kalahi-CIDSS and DSWD; and 2nd Coy, DNPPO, RPSB, Hon Brgy Capt Arnolfo E Generoso of Brgy Magwawa and Tribal Leaders from Sitio Mangga of said Brgy.
In behalf of the IP Community of Sitio Mangga, Datu Oray L Andilong, tribal leader extended his gratitute to the various NGAs, LGU, AFP and PNP for the materialization of said projects which will be of great help for them to have an easy access and processing of rice and corn which will make their lives more easy and productive in the community.
This project is in line with the efforts of different NGAs and the LGU to deliver social services to the the IPs in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantage Areas (GIDAs) which will help them uplift their socio-economic well-being.
