Mawab, Compostela Valley Province – Three (3) Former Rebels (FRs) who were assisted by 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion graduated from High School last July 25, 2019 in Mawab.
A.K.A Kalyn, A.K.A Dalusoy and A.K.A Jimbo successfully completed the
Program of Instructions for High School under the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and earned diploma during their Completion Program at Mawab Central Elementary School, Brgy. Poblacion, Mawab, Compostela Valley Province.
Lieutenant Colonel Esteveyn E Ducusin, Commanding Officer of 71st IB with an earnest desire to give hope to every FR initiated the enrollment of said FRs to ALS in a weekend based instructions.
Also, 71st IB rendered financial, transportation, board and lodging assistance to sustain the needs of FRs while studying.
A.K.A Kalyn said, “Our diploma is a celebration not only of our hard work but also of the support of the unit especially Lieutenant Col. Ducusin for being patient in bearing with us. He never fails to remind us how important education is.”
“I have seen potentials in these people so I decided to open doors. Upon learning that they have not yet graduated from High School, I decided to coordinate with Mawab CES and enrolled them in ALS,” Ducusin said.
“Today shows that these people are paving a way to a better life. With the help of different agencies, I assure that they would be laid opportunities to study farther and even work to have a better life,” Ducusin added.
During the program, Honorable Ruperto S Gonzaga III was also present. In his speech he said, “Let’s support one another for progress and fulfillment.” He also promised to employ two of the honor students of the ALS Batch 2019.
