CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto presided over the Change of Command Ceremony of 6 th Infantry Division today.
Outgoing Commander Maj. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana relinquished his post to Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon.
Among present during the ceremony were, local government chiefs of the different provinces under the jurisdiction of 6th ID, members of Bangsamoro Transition Authority, members of International Monitoring Team, Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Moro National Liberation Front, military commanders from the divisions, brigades
and battalions, and other peace stakeholders.
“It is with this ethos, Commitment, Excellence, and Service that brought 6 th ID to where it is now. I am honored and glad that with all that has been undertaken during my tenure, it is certain that we made a difference for the betterment of our soldiers and the people we serve in this part of the region to achieve long lasting peace,” outgoing Commander Maj. Gen. Sobejana said.
Maj. Gen. Carreon, upon his new appointment to his new post, described his assumption as very much a home for him since he served 6 th ID in the mid 90s and from 2007 to 2010 and recently as the Brigade Commander of 601 st Infantry Brigade from February 2017 to date.
In his assumption speech, he vowed to build more on the gains of his predecessor and to continue to do the best practices of the Command to serve better the people of Central Mindanao.
In his speech, Lt. Gen. Alberto outlined the accomplishments of 6 th ID in various security operations through the leadership of the outgoing Commander and former Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Sobejana, which had brought significant reduction in the firepower and various war materiel of several threat groups.
