Sultan Kudarat – In the early morning of 05 May 2019, the 1st Marine Brigade conducted a Caravan for HOPE 2019 in the municipalities of Lebak and Kalamansig in connection with the upcoming 2019 National and Local Elections.

The assembly and opening ceremony was held at Kalayaan Park, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat. The activity aims to inform the public on the efforts of the government agencies and that they are one in the campaign for an honest, orderly, and peaceful election.

It was attended by the different sectors in the area of operation such as Election Officers from the Commission of Election; MPS of Lebak and Kalamansig; Bureau of Fire-Lebak; 2nd District, DPWH; Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting; Lebak bikers; Lebak and Kalamansig Tricycle Operators Drivers Association; Marine Reservists; 1MBde; MBLT-2; and MBLT-5. The caravan started from Kalayaan Park, Kalamansig Municipality and ended at the Lebak Kiosk, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.

During the closing ceremony, Marlon P Suganob, the Election Officer of Lebak encouraged the people to participate and exercise their right to vote and stressed on the campaign against vote buying. In his remarks he said “huwag ipagpalit ang boto sa pera o anumang bagay na may halaga”.

While Bgen Eugenio V Hernandez AFP, Commander, 1st Marine Brigade assured the public that this coming election, the Marines will do their mandate to secure and protect all polling centers and the community.

“The political process does not end on Election day, we have to stay involved in the process by continuing to pay attention to what they had promised.” Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana said, Commander Joint Task Force Central.

“Your AFP will never below you, will never be above you, but always beside you,” the Commander added.

The activity ended with the releasing of doves as a symbol that all sectors of the community are united for a peaceful election.
