Army’s 7ID steps up law enforcement support operations a day before May 9 polls in AOR

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — Following a report from the community on a shooting incident, the combined personnel from the 84th Infantry (VICTORIOUS) Battalion and General Tinio Municipal Police Station who were conducting joint Checkpoint Operations immediately responded to the situation at Purok Gulod, Brgy. Concepcion, General Tinio, Nueva Ecija at 11:30pm, May 7.

According to MGEN ANDREW D COSTELO PA, Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army, based on the initial report from General Tinio Municipal Police Station, the shooting incident involved the Civilian Security Personnel allegedly of Incumbent Mayor Isidro T Pajarillaga of General Tinio and Mayoralty Candidate Virgilio Bote.

Upon response, the authorities arrested 24 individuals and captured 23 firearms from the said Civilian Security Personnel.

Confiscated were five M16 rifles, 12 caliber .45 pistols, three 9mm pistols, one caliber .40 pistol, and two 12-gauge shotguns.

Also recovered from the scene are 71 cal 5.56 live ammos, 138 cal .45 live ammos, 41 cal 9mm live ammos, 12 cal .40 live ammos, 8 shotgun live ammos, 6 magazines for m16 rifle, 26 magazines for pistols, and eight holsters. 20 cellular phones and three handheld radios.

From the 24, five were wounded and were brought to Nueva Ecija Medical Center for treatment.

“We would to thank the community for their cooperation to the authorities kasi kung hindi na i-report agad ang ganitong criminal activity ng mga involved na mga indibidwal, marahil naging mas madugo pa ang nangyaring insidente at ayaw natin mangyari ito. On the part of the Army, we do not tolerate the existence of private armed groups that will destroy the peace and order for tomorrow’s conduct of election,” said MGEN COSTELO.

Meanwhile, because of the incident, additional police and Army troops were sent to the said municipality to augment the security forces who are deployed for the upcoming elections on May 9.
