Army’s 61IB holds Youth Leadership Program Summit 2022 in Antique.

In partnership with the Province of Antique, the 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion facilitated a three-day Youth Leadership Summit 2022 held at the University of Antique-Main Campus IN Sibalom, Antique, last September 23-25, 2022.
A total of 100 participants from the municipalities of Sibalom, Hamtic, San Jose de Buenavista and San Remigio, Antique participated in the said activity.

The said YLS with the theme “Youth of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow” was formally opened on September 23, 2022, with Ms. Margie L. Gadian, POPS Consultant; LTC HAROLD E GARCIA INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, 61IB; Ms. Irish Mae Manlapaz, Provincial Youth Development Officer; Hon. Anthony B Abong, Sangguniang Bayan Member, Sibalom, Antique; Mr. Dee Anthony Fernandez, Local Youth Development Officer, San Remigio, Antique, and Engr. Nelly E. Mistio, Campus Director, University of Antique-Main Campus.

The activity was filled with lectures and interactive discussion on Roles of the Youth in Nation-Building; Leadership Training; Skill and Development Training (PYDO); Programs, Projects and Employment for Youth (DOLE); COVID-19 Awareness and Teenage Pregnancy (PHO); Roles of PNP in the Community and Crime Prevention (PNP); Spiritual and Moral Making (Religious Sector); Disaster Preparedness (PDRRMC); DSWD Programs and Services (DSWD); Drug Awareness(PDEA) and Insurgency Awareness, Deceptive Strategy and Former Rebel Testimony (NICA).

The culmination activity was conducted on September 25 with Ms. Krystyn Desposado, Consultant, House of Representatives; LTC GARCIA, Hon. Elmer C. Untaran, Municipal Mayor, San Jose, Antique, and Hon. Mark F. Canja, SK Provincial Federation, President.

Meanwhile, LTC GARCIA, Commanding Officer, 61IB, expressed his gratitude to the provincial government of Antique, headed by Governor Rhodora J Cadiao, for its unwavering support through the Peace and Order and Public Safety Office headed by Ms Margie L. Gadian, POPS Consultant.
