CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz- Troops from the Army’s 11th Infantry (Lapu-Lapu) Battalion clashed with undetermined number of CPP-NPA terrorists at Sitio, Samac Gamay, Barangay Nalundan, Bindoy town in Negros Oriental at about 4:45 in the afternoon of July 02, 2019.
The troops conducted combat operations upon receiving a tip-off from the civilian populace on the presence of fully-armed individuals roaming around the vicinity of Sitio Samac Gamay when they encountered members of the communist-terrorist group. The
firefight ensued for about one hour and ten minutes before the enemies scampered towards different directions. No one was hurt on the government side while it remains undetermined on the enemy’s side.
The troops are still scouring the area to recover war materials left by the absconding communist-terrorists.
“Kahit bagong balik palang ang 11IB sa lugar pero nasusundan na natin ang mga kalaban. Patunay lamang na dahil sa tulong ng mga aktibo nating stakeholders kasama ang buong mamamayan ng Negros Oriental na hindi nagsasawang magbigay ng impormasyon ay ating mawawakasan ang mga karahasan na dulot ng teroristang grupo”, said LTC Ramir Redosendo, Commanding Officer, 11IB.
Brigadier General Ignacio B Madriaga AFP, the Commander of the Army’s 302nd Infantry (Achiever) Brigade said that “Again this is a result of the continued support from the locals. These communist-terrorists should think twice, as the people are not afraid of
them anymore. The people are fed up with their lies and selfish ideology. We will continue to put pressure to these terrorists, and let them feel that Negros Oriental has no place for them. I am calling the rest of the members of this group to lay down your arms and return to the mainstream society, before it will be too late”.
For his part, Major General Dinoh Dolina, the Commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division called on the Negrenses to keep supporting the troops through giving accurate information on the presence and whereabouts of the communist- terrorists to stop them from casting terror and violence. “Peace is everybody’s business.
Let’s work hand-in-hand in achieving genuine peace and sustainable development in Negros Island”, MGen Dolina stressed.
On the other hand, MGen Dolina reiterated his call to the remaining members of the CPP-NPA Terrorist to lay down their arms and abandon senseless and bloody armed struggle. “I am again calling our brothers and sisters in the mountains to come down and go back to the mainstream society. Your government together with your Army and
PNP is willing to ensure your safety if you choose to come down and surrender. We are
more than willing to give you another chance to start a new and productive life through the government’s reintegration program”, he added.
