Placer, Surigao del Norte – The 30th Infantry Battalion (30IB) supports the operationalization of Surigao del Norte Operational Plan (OPLAN) AWAY -“Coronavirus Disease” (COVID-19) in the province of Surigao del Norte started March 18, 2020.
Earlier, the government declared unilateral ceasefire to allow AFP to shift its efforts to support the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-MEID) amid the COVID19 crisis nationwide.
In an interview, Lt. Col. Jeffrey A Villarosa, Commanding Officer of 30IB said that based on report, the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is the most serious global health security threat in decades. Villarosa also stated that based on their datas at the Command Center, there is a total of 1,114 Person Under Monitoring(PUM), 6 of which already cleared (completed 14 days quarantine period) and there are 6 Person Under Investigation (PUI) who is also currently admitted in Caraga Regional Hospital. Villarosa also stated that people can contact the PDRRMO hotline number thru 09282105287 in case of any concerns with respect to the OPLAN AWAY COVID-19.
“Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the outbreak, and we are deeply grateful to the thousands of healthcare workers, local government units (LGUs), DOH, DILG, DSWD, PNP, BFP, other law enforcements and all the government agencies who are our partners on the front lines helping the communities in the province. We need the participation of the communities on the procedures during checkpoints to help us stop the spread of the virus here in our province”, Villarosa added.
Meanwhile, Villarosa stated that amid their effort in their support to address the COVID, Villarosa appeal to the community to be vigilant and report presence of terrorist for they might take advantage even though the government declared cease-fire they might still attack if opportunity arise. Villarosa stated that they are terrorists and know No laws and agreements.
It can be recalled last 15 February 2017, the member of the CNTs attack and ambushed the convoy of 30IB and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation’s Operation Sagip Team who were conducting relief operations and delivering urgent aid to areas hit by magnitude 6.7 earthquake on the 10th of February 2017 in the province of Surigao del Norte.
