IMPASUGONG, BUKIDNON. December 31- Another 250 members of the Talaandig community benefited through the Army’s ongoing Operation Christmas Drop Program at Sitio Balaudo, Barangay St Peter, Malabalay City, Bukidnon on December 26, 2020.
The Talaandig community is the second community in 8ib area of operation who benefited in the said gift-giving program which is an initiative of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID), Philippine Army under the Command of MGen Andres C Centino PA in collaboration with its peace and development partners. The program aims to distribute gift packs and other assistance in selected far-flung communities in Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions. In this way, members of the Talaandig community will feel the loving care of the government and the community especially during this season of giving.
The Talaandig community received 140 assorted food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 10, eight (8) sacks of used clothes, six (6) sacks of assorted groceries, four (4) sacks of rice from the Overseas Filipino Workers Cares Association, and 10 bags of corn seeds from the Department of Agriculture Region 10. On the other hand, the Bukidnon Lateral Organized Development (BUKLOD) gave financial assistance while the Brgy Council of Brgy St Peter provided manpower during the distribution. The Philippine Airforce transported the goods via helicopters since the area is remote and inaccessible by four-wheeled vehicles.
Present during the activity were Cpt Linley Marl M. Dajao from 4ID, 2nd Lt. Rex Bryan E. Leal from the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion, and Mr Jun-jun P. Han-ayan, Sitio leader of So Balaudo.
Mr. Han-yan emotionally expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of the said activity. He said, “Mapasalamaton kami sa regalo nga among nadawat gikan sa gobyerno pinaagi niini nga programa, sa unang higayon nakadawat kami aning dili maihap nga mga grasya.” (We are grateful for the gifts we received from the government through this program, for the first time, we received this kind of immeasurable blessings.)
Lt. Col Talaroc Jr. stressed that the army persevered in pursuing this program at So Balaudo for them to feel that the government is with them during this holiday season. He added, “Kini nga yunit, duyog ang among kaabag sa kalinaw ug kalamboan, magpadayon sa pagpaambit kaninyo ang grasya sa Pasko.” (This unit, together with our peace and development partners, will continue to share the blessings of Christmas.)
