Bancasi, Butuan City – the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade together with the Police Regional Office (PRO13) boosted its troops’ visibility for stricter implementation of the protocols and guidelines to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in Butuan City yesterday morning, May 6, 2020.
In a simple send-off ceremony held at Headquarters PRO13, Brgy Libertad of this city, an additional of ninety-two (92) personnel from the troops of 402nd Brigade and PRO13 will augment the personnel of Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) to enforce crowd control and strictly limit unnecessary movements of the people in the town centers to contain the spread of COVID-19.
After which, the augmentation troops were given additional personnel protective equipment (PPE) and attended an information briefing on their task and deployment and discussed salient points pertaining to the previously released protocols and guidelines and the new EO Nr 27 placing the city under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) except for the fifty (50) barangays which will remain under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to prevent and/or mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
The additional troop requirement from the Army and PNP, as a necessary step to instill control amongst the people, came after the City Mayor, Hon Ronnie Vicente C Lagnada, frustratingly observed that most people have become so relax and in some ways forgot the essence of the Home Quarantine to the detriment on the previous gains and efforts of the IATF Butuan City in its fight against COVID-19.
