LAGANGILANG, Abra- The Army’s 24th Infantry (WILDCAT) Battalion together with the Provincial COMELEC and Abra PNP held a coordinating conference in Bangued, Abra on 15 February 2019.

A total of 84 participants from AFP, PNP, COMELEC and other stakeholders joined the 1st Provincial Joint Security Control Center (PJSCC) Conference for the incoming May 13, 2019 National and Local Election in Social Hall, Abra Provincial Capitol, Bangued, Abra.

The PJSCC conference was made to collectively plan very strategically solutions and preventing the occurrence of election related problems before, during and after elections. The conference aims to have honest and credible results of the said election.

Discussed during the conference were Abra Province Statistics for May 13, 2019 elections, where it further enumerated the number of pooling areas, clustered precincts, and number of registered voters for each of the 27 municipalities under the Province of Abra. COMELEC Resolutions salient to the conduct of the elections were also discussed paying attention to the role of the AFP and PNP during the election period.

Peace and order situations and areas of concern was also undertaken, putting into considerations the deployment of government security forces to the areas where election related problem may arise.

During her message, Atty Vanessa Mico-Roncal, the Acting Provincial Election Supervisor expressed her gratitude to the AFP and PNP who were sacrificing their safety and even their lives to secure the votes of the people. According to her, “Election is the heart of the Philippine Democracy”, and she believed that with the collective effort of all agencies involved, we can exercise our freedom to vote without fear.

Commanding General of the 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, BGen Lenard T Agustin AFP said, “Your ARMY is all ready to support the PNP in all its undertakings to secure the conduct of the May 13, 2019 Elections.”

While BGen Henry A Robinson Jr AFP, 702nd Brigade Commander said that the Army is committed to deliver unbiased service to the people it serves specially in this time of election.

Lt Col Jearie Boy P Faminial INF (GSC) PA, Battalion Commander of the 24th Infantry Battalion, said “We will ensure you that your ARMY will remain apolitical throughout the election period. We will commit all our troops for the conduct of Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections on May 13, 2019.” “Let us exercise our freedom wisely. Pumili po tayo ng tama.“ he added.
