BANCASI, Butuan City – The 402nd Infantry Brigade (402Bde) in partnership with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Caraga conducted Gender Fair Language Seminar today, August 13, 2019 at Kalayaan Hall, Headquarters, 402Bde Brgy Bancasi this city.
26 personnel from 402nd Brigade led by the Brigade’s GAD Officer, 1st Lieutenant Joan C Gamponia, participated in the said seminar conducted by Ms Joyce Ann P Adlawan, Information Officer 2, of the CHR Caraga.
The said seminar is the 1st part of the series of seminars for the troops of 402nd Brigade on Gender and Development (GAD) awareness to ensure that both men and women can participate in, and benefit from, development in a way that is equitable especially in a male dominated profession such as the Army. It also tackled the equality of gender that pursues in the belief that both men and women should receive equal treatment and should not be discriminated against because of their gender. It addresses, provides and pursues full equality and development for men and women which includes gender empowerment and sensitivity.
“We wanted that every soldier understands the equality of every men and women in the Army. We also aim to educate our soldiers and constantly remind them the use of fair language towards the opposite sex. It is important that as professional and disciplined organization, disrespect to women and gender biases are not acceptable and instead, gender empowerment must be honed and valued”, 1st Lieutenant Gamponia said.
In his statement, Col Maurito L Licudine, Commander of 402nd Infantry Brigade said, “Your 402nd Brigade espouses and promotes the equality of men and women in the Army. In line with our vision to be a world class Army that is a source of national pride, we must be able to adapt and recognize the value of women in the organization who immensely contribute to the accomplishment of every unit’s mission”.
