Bancasi, Butuan City – The Philippine Army and Philippine National Police in Caraga conducted Joint Send – Off Ceremony of troops to be deployed in connection with the conduct of Midterm Elections today, May 06, 2019 at Headquarters, Police Regional Office 13, Brgy Libertad, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
More than two thousand soldiers and CAFGUs under the 402 nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade will be deployed to complement the PNP personnel in the provinces of Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte and Dinagat Island to ensure free, honest, orderly, peaceful and credible May 13, 2019 National
and Local Elections in Caraga.
During the ceremony, Col Maurito L Licudine of the 402 nd Infantry Brigade led the PA side in sending off its troops with PBGen Gilberto DC Cruz, Regional Director, PRO13 and Atty. Ray F Sumalipao, Regional Election Director of COMELEC 13 represented Atty Alvin Prandy T Canta, Provincial Election Supervisor of ADN. Present also were the Regional Director of BFP 13, FSSupt Romel C Tradio, Rev Fr Carlito L
Clase, Executive Director of the CCPD with the Battalion Commanders of 23rd Infantry Battalion and 29 th Infantry Battalion in Agusan del Norte, namely; Lt. Col. Francisco L Molina Jr and Lt. Col. Isagani O Criste, respectively.
PA and PNP troops were properly inspected and reminded on the strict adherence to Human rights, the COMELEC guidelines and to be non-partisan on its dealings, and be ready to respond to any eventualities while performing election-related duties.
Also, a send-off ceremony to more than three – hundred sixty soldiers was similarly conducted this afternoon, May 06, 2019 at Headquarters 36IB, Sitio Upper Mambago, Brgy Dayoan, Tago, Surigao del Sur. Meanwhile the 30 th Infantry (Python) Battalion together with the PNP troops and COMELEC Officials in Surigao del Norte will conduct similar activity in Brgy Bad-as, Placer, Surigao del Norte.
As per Comelec Resolution No. 10470, the Article IX-C, Section 2 (4) of the 1987 Constitution and the Omnibus Election Code, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are deputized for the purpose of ensuring free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible conduct of the May 13, 2019 national and local elections.
Col Licudine described the joint activity as a manifestation of the excellent partnership between the AFP and PNP in support to the COMELEC. “We are committed to perform any task given to us especially that this election will mark leaders to fulfill our hope to have peaceful and resilient communities. Hence, in performing our mandated task, seek guidance from your superiors and our COMELEC counterparts. I think you have prepared yourself for this moment, let’s do our job and let’s do it well” Col Licudine said during his message to the security forces.
