AFP holds governance forum for crisis management

CAMP AGUINALDO, QUEZON CITY – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday, September 13, conducted the AFP Transformation Roadmap Governance Forum-Lecture Series (AGFLS) 01-2021 to discuss the roles of leadership in crisis management.

Lieutenant General Jose Faustino Jr., AFP Chief of Staff, led the activity which was also participated by the Major Services’ Strategy Management Offices, Joint, Personal and Special Staff (JPS), AFP Wide Support and Separate Units (AFPWSSUs), and Unified Commands (UCs) of the AFP.

“This year’s first AFP Transformation Roadmap Governance Forum cannot be more opportune, as this shall surely capacitate each one of us to be more adaptive and responsive as we perform our mandate of not only securing our country and protecting our people but also in being a responsible partner to all sectors of the Philippine society,” Lieutenant General Faustino said.

The forum was constituted by a lecture from Dr. Kenneth Y. Hartigan-Go, Adjunct Professor of Asian Institute of Management (AIM) regarding Leadership in Times of Disaster and Crisis, and an Open Discussion with an invited panel of reactors.

Facilitated by the Office for Strategic Studies and Strategy Management (OSSSM), the AGFLS serves as a good avenue for strategic communication that seeks to equip the men and women of the armed forces on strategy alignment and execution.

With the theme “Promoting a Culture of Leadership Excellence through Crisis Management”, the inaugural conduct of the activity aims to have a comprehensive, collective and localized approach to fill in the gaps towards seamless attainment of the AFP objective of a world-class armed force, source of national pride.

At the end of the activity, the AFP Chief of Staff reaffirmed his commitment to the AFP Transformation Roadmap and encouraged the participants to support the said thrust.

“We must actively take measures in revisiting, reviewing and modifying our frameworks, doctrines, policies and mechanisms in order to refine and recalibrate our capabilities as we gear ourselves to anticipate and confront a multitude of challenges and crises in the future,” the AFP Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Faustino stated.
