Compostela, Compostela Valley Province – On 21 December 2018, Staff Sergeant Julius Ledesma (Inf) PA, a proud son of the 66th Infantry (Kabalikat) Battalion, was conferred the Enlisted soldier of the Year Award of the Armed Forces of the Philippines by GEN BENJAMIN R
MADRIGAL JR, CSAFP, during the commemoration of the AFP’s 83rd Founding Anniversary at General Headquarters, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

SSg Julius M Ledesma has been leading fellow soldiers of one of the platoons of the 66th infantry battalion. He has exemplified his gallantry in combat in several operations conducted. One of his notable accomplishment was the successful combat operation that led to the
neutralization of a high ranking NPA personality of a dismantled Guerilla Front that made him a recipient of a Gold Cross Medal. He was several times Wounded in Action during encounters against NPA terrorist. He was awarded by no less than PRESIDENT RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE the “Kampilan” Plaque for his bravery in combat. In the conduct of operations, he had successfully led his platoon in the series of operations that resulted to the capture of ten (10) High Powered Firearms and other war materiel. Collectively, SSg Ledesma had significantly contributed to the successful implementation of the 66IB’s campaign in Compostela Valley Province for dismantling one Guerilla Front. In recognition to his remarkable accomplishments, he was adjudged as the Enlisted Personnel of the Year (2018) of the 10th Infantry Division and Eastern Mindanao Command respectively. Relative to this, he was also awarded as the Best EP of the Army and eventually became this year’s AFP Enlisted Personnel.

The 66th Infantry (Kabalikat) Battalion under the leadership of LTC PALMER M PARUNGAO takes pride and honor for this remarkable milestone. “This achievement bespeaks the sincerity and volition of our soldiers and the unit as well as in our mandate of protecting the peace” LTC PARUNGAO said.
