FORT MAGSAYSAY, NUEVA ECIJA – Nine former rebels who surrendered to the 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion received financial assistance at the Provincial Capitol of Bataan, February 4.
Hon. Albert S. Garcia, Bataan Governor awarded the financial assistance amounting to ₱ 10,000.00 each returnee.
The former rebels brought with them one improvised M14 rifle with 26 live ammunition, two cal .38 revolver with 13 live ammunitions’ and one hand grenade when they yielded last November 26, 2018 at one of the patrol bases of 48IB.
The granting of cash assistance to the former rebels is the initiative of the 48IB under the leadership of Lt Col Arnel B Cabugon. Said amount will serve as a start-up in creating money generating business to begin their new life.
Brig Gen Lenard T Agustin, Acting 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division commander, lauded the efforts of the Guardians Troopers. He also conveyed his appreciation to the local government unit of Bataan headed by Hon. Garcia.
“The awarding of financial assistance is just first of the many benefits that the former rebels will enjoy. I call on the rebels who are still in the mountains to lay down their arms and be with their families. The 7ID is always open to help you go back to the folds of the government,” BGen Agustin added.
Lt Col Cabugon conveyed that 48IB is always ready to provide assistance to the former rebels in the processing of their application for Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
The ₱ 10,000.00 cash assistance awarded to the rebels is thru the initiative of the LGU of Bataan and excluded from the E-CLIP benefits.
