Nine (9) members of the outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) who yielded to the troops of the Joint Task Force Central last October 26, 2018 were formally presented to Maguindanao Governor Esmael “Toto” G. Mangudadatu at the Headquarters of the 33rd Infantry Battalion in Barangay Tual, President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat yesterday (November 08, 2018).
Also present during the ceremonial turnover were 6th Infantry Division Assistant Commander for Reservist and Retirees Affairs Colonel Antonio B. Sugarol and General Salipada K. Pendatun Vice Mayor Salman T. Kali.
During their surrender, the former rebels brought along with them 9 high-powered firearms including two Caliber 50 Sniper Rifles, three Rocket Propelled Grenade Launchers, one Caliber 5.56mm M653 Assault Rifle, one Caliber 7.62mm M14 Rifle, and two 40mm M79 Grenade Launchers.
“May they be an inspiration to the remaining BIFF members. It is more fulfilling to gain peace without any bloodshed,” said Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega.
