7ID Signs MOA for Security of TPLEX


FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – The 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army entered to a Memorandum of Agreement with Private Infra Development Corporation (PIDC) for the protection and security of Tarlac, Pangasinan and La Union Expressway Project (TPLEX) at 9:00 in the morning yesterday.

Major General Lenard T Agustin AFP, Commander of 7ID spearheaded the activity together with Mr. Rogelio M. Murga, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PIDC.

The MOA pertains to the deployment of Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit Active Auxillary (CAFGU) which is under the administration and supervision of 7ID in the areas covering TPLEX.

PIDC requests CAFGU troops to secure and protect the properties, facilities, equipment and workers from the insurgents, terrorists and lawless elements.

Brigadier General Henry A Robinson Jr AFP, Commander of the 702nd Infantry (Defender) Brigade, Colonel Ramon Antonio E Bello, Commanding Officer of 3rd Mechanized (Makatarungan) Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel Rodrigo A Marinas, Commanding Officer of 70th Infantry (Cadre) Battalion witnessed the MOA signing.

MGen Agustin said that 7ID and its subordinate units including the CAFGU are always ready to provide security to infrastructure projects like TPLEX.

“Strong partnership leads to a better & secured environment that will surely usher in progress and development. As always, convergence of efforts will redound to the greater benefit of our country and people,” said MGen Agustin.

“Infrastructure like TPLEX provides opportunities not only for the community that covers the project but for everybody. The Army does not only provide security and protection to the people and establishments, it also secure the future by providing opportunities to all especially those who are in the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantage Areas (GIDAs),” he added.

Said memorandum of agreement is subject for approval of the Chief of Staff Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP) and the Secretary of National Defense like other MOA and memorandum of understanding that are participated by units of the AFP.
