6th Infantry Division inaugurates new facilities, recognizes retiring RCDG Commander


CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – The 6th Infantry Division inaugurated here this morning, May 14, 2019, the new Commander’s security room and the refurbished tennis court and bleacher.

Maj. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana, Commander of 6th ID, led the inauguration assisted by his Assistant Division Commander, Brig. Gen. Juvymax Uy.

The new and refurbished facilities are part of the camp improvements of 6th ID that will benefit and uplift Kampilan troops’ welfare and living conditions; which is among the administrative priorities of the Commander.

The simple ceremony was attended by the General, Special, Personal Staffs, Post and Tenant unit Commanders, and other personnel of 6th ID.

Also present in the event, as the guest speaker is retired Maj. Gen. Antonio Seville, who is also a lawn tennis enthusiast. He encouraged the military personnel to engage in sports as a form of maintaining good health.

“Age is no barrier. It’s a limitation you put in your mind.” Retired Maj. Gen. Seville said.

“Physical activity keeps your heart and blood vessels healthy, helps prevent many health problems and makes you feel younger.” He added.

“We still have a lot of things to do to improve our Division facilities, so your active participation is very much needed,” Maj. Gen. Sobejana said.

“As soldiers who ought to serve and protect the people, we deserve to have a comfortable place to stay. It may not be like home, but will offer amenities to meet our physiological needs and hopefully boost the morale and welfare of our ranks,’ the Commander added.

Maj. Gen. Sobejana urged the Kampilan troopers to put their utmost dedication in performing their duties and responsibilities. He is positive that these kind of facilities will motivate the soldiers to perform well.

On the other hand, Col. Alfredo P. Patarata, Commander of 12th Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG) was given recognition after the inauguration ceremony. He is set to retire on May 19, 2019.

Maj. Gen. Sobejana awarded him with a plaque of recognition and a Philippine flag in grateful appreciation of his services rendered and contributions to the accomplishment of 6ID’s mission.

Col Patarata expressed his gratitude to the Officers and men of 6ID for the recognition given him.

The ceremonies concluded with a ‘boodle fight’, a traditional military way of partaking meal as conclusion of a celebration, exhibiting the degree of camaraderie among the Officers and enlisted personnel of the Command.
