62IB Troops Seize NPA Arms Cache in Moises Padilla

CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan Capiz – The Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion seized CPP-NPA Terrorist’s arms cache containing twelve various firearms at the vicinity of Sitio Bungao, Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Thursday, September 17, 2020.

The troops were responding on a report about the presence of armed communist-terrorists in the area doing extortion activities, when they saw a suspicious person dropping his .38 caliber revolver after seeing the troops and ran away. This incident prompted the troops to conduct pursuit operation that resulted to the apprehension of certain Joselito Ebarle.

While scouring the area, the troops found two M16 rifles; eight cal.38 revolvers; two homemade shotguns; one magazine of M14 with ten rounds of live ammunitions; oneback pack containing subversive documents and one CPP-NPA flag inside the house of Ebarle.

Major General Eric Vinoya, the Commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division said, the seizure of arms cache of the CPP-NPA Terrorist is an indication of excess war materiel due to the dwindling number of communist-terrorists operating in Negros.

“The troops did not only inflict damage on the armed capability of the communist-terrorists but likewise prevented them to use the aforementioned firearms in casting terroristic activities,” said MGen Vinoya.

As he thanked the populace for their unwavering support to the Army by giving accurate and timely information, he also encouraged others to do the same to finally put the communist-terrorist group’s cruelty to its end.

“With the people backing us, we are optimistic that we can totally weaken not only the armed capability of the communist-terrorists, but also their will to fight,” he added.
