CAMP GENERAL MATEO CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal – A three-day Medical, Dental, and Surgical mission facilitated by the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division, with the theme: “Sama-sama para sa Kalusugan” culminated at the Sierra Madre Mountain Resort-Hotel in Tanay, Rizal, January 23.

The Philippine Medical Association of Southern California (PMA-SC) and KsTH organized the event in partnership with the Jungle Fighters which aims to help less-fortunate civilians especially the Indigenous People.

Surgical services for cataract, harelip and cleft palate were performed at the Army Station Hospital for those patients who have been pre-screened and passed the screening process. Likewise, free medical and dental consultations were held at Sierra Madre Resort. The events were simultaneously conducted on January 21-23, 2019.
Major General Rhoderick M Parayno AFP, 2ID commander and BGen Roberto P Santiago (Retired), President, Kapatiran sa Tanay Highland (KsTH) expressed their gratitude to the sponsors of the said mission.

“We’ve been doing this as part of our division’s program, but doing this with our American friends with Filipino blood and other volunteers are really something different. I would like to thank everybody for this very successful three days activity, ” MGen Parayno said.

More than 1,000 patients benefited from the said mission . Services such as medical consultations were provided to 618 patients; minor surgery to 16 patients; tooth extraction, filling and cleaning to 396 patients; eye checkup and cataract removal to 51 beneficiaries. Free medicines were also distributed mostly to residents of Barangay Sampaloc.

The medical-dental team was composed of an estimated 100 members from Philippine Band of Mercy (PBM), AFP Medical Center, Manila Central University, 2nd Army Station Hospital and Dental Dispensary, and other supporting organizations such as St Jude Parish volunteers, Jollibee Tanay Hi-way, Ten Cents to Heaven and other civic organizations and individuals.
