BALER, Aurora-The 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion of the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division, Philippine Army, deployed 257 army troopers and 127 Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Units (CAFGU) Active Auxiliaries as security force multipliers from May 1 to 10, 2022.
Lt. Col. Julito B. Recto, acting commanding officer of 91st IB informed that the said total number (384) of personnel were deployed all over Aurora Province and in the municipalities of Gabaldon, Bongabon and Laur in Nueva Ecija.
He added that the deployment includes the far-flung and coastal areas of the said provinces to monitor and conduct security operations to preempt any hostile plan of the enemy to scatter disorders & unrest aimed to hamper the National and Local Elections 2022 in the areas. According to LTC Recto, the move was for a safe, accurate, free, credible and fair election in the area, he explained further.
“Our deployment was in coordination with Comelec, PNP counterparts and other security forces to ensure the safety of everyone. We can say that the security operations were smoothly carried out including the contingency measures for any eventuality. So far, it was peaceful and no untoward incident from the communist terrorist groups occurred. Everything was fine and stable before, during and after the May 9 polls,” the battalion commander said.
The Comelec in a Resolution, Res. No. 10728, allows soldiers to carry and possess firearms while performing official duties during the 150-days election period.
Since May 1, LTC Recto deployed troops together with the Aurora Police Provincial Office (APPO) personnel to assist the Comelec by assigning staff in strategic locations to man checkpoints to maintain the peace & order situations of the entire province, with the ultimate purpose “a peaceful National and Local Elections 2022”.
