21 Former Rebels receive financial assistance to start anew towards their reintegration in the mainstream society in Abra.

21 FORMER REBELS RECEIVED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN THE PROVINCE OF ABRA

LAGANGILANG, Abra – Twenty-one former rebels (FRs) from the municipalities of Bangued, Bucay, Sal-lapadan, and Tubo received financial assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) awarded by the Provincial Government and Department of Interior and Local Government of Abra in partnership with the 24th Infantry ‘Wildcat’ Battalion, Philippine Army and Abra Police Provincial Office in a simple ceremony held at Provincial Atrium, Capitol Compound, Bangued, Abra on June 07, 2022.

The awarding of Four Hundred Seventy-Five Thousand Pesos (P475,000.00) total financial assistance was spearheaded by the Governor-Elect and Incumbent, Bangued Mayor, Hon Dominic Valera, together with Ms. Millicent Cariño, Provincial Director of DILG-Abra, Ms. Myrna Bersalona, PSWDO, PGA, Maj Laurencio O Panit Jr, Officer-In-Charge of 24IB and Police Col. Maly C Cula, Provincial Director of Abra PPO.

Gov. Elect, Hon Valera, together with DILG, PNP, and 24IB awarded checks worth P15,000 each as immediate assistance and others received worth of P50,000 livelihood assistance, P45,000 – P90,000 firearm remuneration, and P7,000 worth of reintegration assistance.

In his speech, Hon. Valera commended the efforts of the DILG, PSWDO, Abra PPO, and 24IB for making the activity possible. He also encouraged the Former Rebels (FRs) to use the financial assistance to start their new journey toward reintegration in mainstream society.

Meanwhile, Ms. Cariño said that “I am glad that I have witnessed the awarding of financial assistance to these FRs before I am relieved as Provincial Director of DILG-Abra. This accomplishment is a result of the convergence of efforts from the LGU, PNP and the Army. It will give the returnees a chance to start over with their lives and will entice other CTG members to realize that there is progress in peace and unity”.

According to Maj. Panit Jr, Officer-in-Charge of 24IB, lauded that the awarding of E-Clip assistance is proof of the government’s sincerity and genuine desire to help former NPA members to become better and more productive citizens of the country.

“The cooperation of every sector of government, as well as our countrymen, is proof of our victory in our fight against insurgency. Therefore, for the remaining members of the Communist Terrorist Group, this is the opportunity to return to our government to renew their lives with their families”. he added
