2 suspects killed in shootout during drug buy-bust operation

Camp Siongco, Maguindanao–Two suspected drug peddlers were killed during a gunfight with the joint elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), DatuPaglas Municipal Police, and 40th Infantry Battalion  this morning (February 20).

The operation was launched against a certain Abdulatip Pindaliday alias Grasscutter at Barangay Lipao,DatuPaglas, Maguindanao.

The fatalities were identified as Sindatu Pindaliday and Norhamin Pindaliday.

Grasscutter and two of his cohorts opened fire at the approaching government troops after a poseur-buyer purchased a sachet of “shabu” from the suspects.

The encounter ensued leaving the two killed suspects while Grasscutter managed to escape from pursuing troops.

Recovered from the scene were one M14 rifle, one M16 rifle, magazines, ammunition bandoliers, one Honda Wave motorcycle, one Bajaj motorcycle, P100 marked money, and 5 grams of suspected “shabu”.

Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon, Commander of Joint Task Force Central Commander, said that support operation of the JTFC troops against drug peddlers will be relentless in support to the government’s war on drugs.

He also lauded the government troops involved in the operation as they put their lives at risk during an encounter with the armed men.
