180 former KADAMAY members benefited from NOLCOM’s KKSK Project

Pandi, Bulacan — About 180 members of the Samahan ng Malayang Kapatiran (SAMAKA) received family food packs from the Northern Luzon Command ‘Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko’ (KKSK) Project on August 24, 2021 at Villa Lois, Barangay Siling Bata and Pandi 3, Barangay Mapulang Lupa in Pandi, Bulacan.
The beneficiaries are composed of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and Senior Citizens all former members of the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY) who withdrew their support to the KADAMAY due to alleged exploitation and manipulations by the said militant organization.

The activity was in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the primary sponsor of food packs. The activity aims to provide food assistance to these less-fortunate Kababayans, who are residing in vulnerable communities, in order to alleviate their sufferings caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 1st Civil Relations Group, CRSAFP which represented the NOLCOM was joined by the members of the Abante SAMBAYANAN – Gitnang Luzon, the personnel of Pandi, Bulacan Municipal Police Station headed by the Chief of Police and the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) of Pandi during the distribution of boxes containing two (2) kilos of rice; four (4) tin cans of corned beef; four (4) tin cans of sardines and six (6) packs of energy drink or coffee sufficient for five members of a family good for two days.

The residents expressed their gratitude to the AFP, PNP and DSWD. Mr Jose Lacia a PWD said, “This is a big help to us, especially to PWDs like me that cannot able to work.”

Former KADAMAY members in Pandi, Bulacan who returned to the fold of the government are also seeking for livelihood assistance. “From the KADAMAY breakaway members, we are grateful for the help we received, and to the leaders who are present here, we hope you can reach out to concerned agencies that could assist us in our livelihood,” said Ka Lolit during the activity, a former leader of KADAMAY.

Meanwhile, the government representatives appreciate the support of the stakeholders that made this project possible and assured that it will not just sustain the project, but will also seek intervention of concerned agencies to help these organizations become productive.
