Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – On January 10, 2023, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region-3’s Payout Economic Assistance Program provided P5,000 in financial assistance to 18 former rebels who were being held at the DSWD Building, Barangay Maimpis, San Fernando, Pampanga, as part of the Payout Financial Assistance Program.
Director Jonathan Dirain, Regional Director for DSWD Region 3, Social Welfare Officer Catherine V. Gacutan, of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Tarlac, and 2LT Carina Joy B. Boado of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion oversaw the distribution of supplies.
Remember that DSWD-3 gave the same assistance to 20 former rebels in Tarlac last year, and they did it again at the beginning of this year.
Former rebel Melissa Marquez thanked the government for its ongoing assistance, saying, “Thank you very much because we FRs have been supported by the government, not only once we surrendered but till now the government is still there to Supply our needs.”
Lt. Col. Jeszer Bautista, Commander of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion, is thanked for leading the DSWD initiative to give FRs priority in their Payout Financial Assistance Program in the interim. Lt. Colonel Bautista remarked, “I am grateful to DSWD for their full and ongoing help to our FRs; in this manner, we feel that we are not being forgotten by those who surrendered and surrendered to the government.
Therefore, Lt. Colonel Bautista said, “I am requesting the remaining KLG TARZAM members in our constituency to come back, submit, and get in touch with us so that we can assist you as well. It’s not too late.”
