10ID Commander facilitates donning of awards to wounded personnel


CAMP GENERAL MANUEL T YAN SR., Mawab, Compostela Valley (Davao de Oro) – On December 27, 2018, 3:30pm, Brigadier General Jose C Faustino Jr AFP, Commander 10ID donned WOUNDED PERSONNEL MEDAL to eleven (11) soldiers at Camp Panacan Hospital, NFEM,
Panacan, Davao City.

Wounded personnel medals were awarded to members of 101 Division Recon Company and 25IB for being wounded-in-action during an encounter on December 26, 2018, 10:00am. against more or less 30 Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) believed to be embers of Weakened Guerilla Front 20, Sub-regional Committee, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee led by alias NICO at vicinity Road 55, Sitio Tinago, Brgy Mt Diwata, Monkayo, CVP.

A report from concerned citizen of Monkayo reached the headquarters of 25IB stating that NPA’s are conducting recruitment activity in connection to 50th founding anniversary of CPP. Responding to the report, 25IB was tasked to initiate focused military operation with 101 DRC. Upon approach to identified enemy location, troops were fired upon and an anti-personnel explosive device exploded as NPA terrorists retaliated. Firefight ensued for about 45 minutes and troops incurred 11 wounded while inflicting undetermined casualties on the enemy side as evidenced by the traces of bloodstain found in the enemy’s position.

Immediately, wounded personnel were extracted from the encounter site while another team rushed up and overran the enemy’s position. The NPAs were forced to withdraw leaving behind some war materiel and documents of high intelligence value.

Brigadier General Jose C Faustino Jr AFP, Commander 10ID, in his talk to the wounded troopers said that; “We have achieved our mission of protecting the people of Barangay Mt Diwata. Our sacrifices resulted to the disruption of the enemy’s planned atrocities and destruction of their will to fight. The people are guaranteed of our services to be at all times ready and our soldiers committed to do what it takes in attaining long lasting peace in our area of responsibility.”
